I want my MTV

So. Just in case I haven't bored you all with the details of my appearance at the MTV Movie Awards gift suite, here's a little rundown.

I'll start at the beginning.

I flew out of Portland on Wednesday, June-something. I convinced my husband to drive me to the airport at 5 a.m. - a time of morning at which I am barely functioning. Then the plane was delayed. Thanks San Francisco and your ever-present cloud cover. I could have slept in another two hours.

I'm on a plane!

I'm a nervous flyer, but since I had a layover in San Fran, I thought it best that I didn't take an Ativan. Last time I did, I was zonked out for half a day. By late afternoon, I had arrived in Phoenix. Between the hours of 4 and 10 p.m., my sister and I managed to cram in a mani-pedi, a trip to Michael's for frames, dinner, and a stop at Hobby Lobby to purchase the decor and acoutrements for my display. Nothing like waiting 'til the last minute is what I always say.

Don't let its unassuming facade fool you. It's the best store ever.

Thursday we got up early to drive to L.A.

Having neither plants nor animals on board to be inspected, our time at the border was brief.

Our hotel was in Anaheim (long story) and it wasn't ready yet so we headed up to L.A. Or is it down to L.A.? I couldn't tell you. I am still mystified and baffled by the entire California freeway system. The signs don't match the maps. The exits are not numbered. I might have used some profanity. But thanks to OnStar, we finally made it to The London Hotel in West Hollywood. We set up my booth pretty quickly and headed back to Anaheim. It takes at least two hours to travel the 34 miles between L.A. and Anaheim. For the record.

Day One of the MTV Movie Awards gifting suite was hot and humid. Eighty-four percent humidity is not even humidity, right? Isn't that called rain? Anyway, it was hot and sticky but we were on a rooftop in Hollywood and there was a DJ and all the Coke Zero we could drink. It was a pretty surreal experience, as you might imagine. I am not a very, um, outgoing person, so the idea of talking to anyone I've never met is slightly terrifying. However the scene was just so surreal (yes, I realize I've used that word already) that I was completely cool with it. We were all assigned our own photographer, who took photos of the celebrities with our product. There was a ton of press there and I did four or five on-camera interviews that I wish I could re-do. I kept forgetting if I should be talking to the camera or the interviewer, so I ended up looking all shifty-eyed. And have I mentioned that they were also filming two reality shows at this event? Because they were.

This is SO not my thing.

Day Two was more of the same, with the added bonus of completely numb toes from an unfortunate shoe choice the day before.

My sister was gaga for the boys from New Moon and I was just as pleased to meet three people from Glee, which was pretty much my entire goal for the weekend. Mission accomplished. All in all, it was a great event. Great experience, great exposure. I'd do it again.

I don’t care that I’m 23 and I don’t have my own kids. I literally gasped when I saw you with Debby Ryan. I love Suite Life on Deck. It’s a secret addiction. She’s adorable.

I also love that you met Blossom. So jealous. And Christian Siriano. He was my favorite. 😀

Looks like you had a great time! Dru’s had a little extra spring in his step lately knowing he was used on your banner! He said somethin about how “he’s made it to Hollywood now”. Haha
