It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
I always say my favorite holiday is Halloween and for the most part, I mean it. You know from my art that I'm partial to skulls and skull-related items, and also there has never been an occasion for which I could not overdress. Halloween blends my love of the dark and macabre with my affinity for playing dress-up - without the pressure of gift-giving and party-having that the winter holidays bring.Halloween is a misfit's high holiday. This year, Dr. Rossman and I were inspired by superheroes. He dressed as Wolverine, with whom he shares a striking resemblance. The Wolverine claws that we ordered from Amazon arrived looking like something straight off a movie set. While I expected plastic claws, what arrived were razor sharp stainless steel knives that we predicted would probably land one of us in the ER. Luckily, everyone avoided injury. I always like to put a vintage spin on my costumes, so I dressed as Diana Prince, Wonder Woman's army nurse alter-ego from the original 1940's comic. I took some liberties, but I think it turned out cute. Yes, that is an authentic army nurse's cloak. Anyway, now the weather has turned and we're rolling into the [other] holiday season, if you can believe it. I am taking a shockingly limited number of Christmas orders this year (maybe one or two spots left!) so if you are in the market for a prezzie, send me an email at rachaelrossman@earthlink.net. I'll see what I can do.
