Busy as a bee
Today was an uncharacteristically lovely day here in the Northwest. I sent my kids outside to get some Vitamin D, put some bread in the oven and got to work on a bunch of paintings. Despite discouraging looks, my daughter flitted through the studio a couple of times with the camera. I will have to get the locks fixed.
I shooed the kids out again and got to work finishing up a few portraits. First there was this one.
Completed: March 6, 2010
Soundtrack: Duffy, Rockferry
Beverage: Diet Coke
Then there was this guy.
Completed: March 7, 2010
Soundtrack: The Dresden Dolls
Beverage: Starbucks Iced Mocha
I also spent some time outside applying UV-protective spray to finished paintings. This is a task that is not easily accomplished in Oregon, in winter. I can't spray the darn stuff in the house because we'd all be asphyxiated by its death fog. I can't do it outside in the rain, which rules out many, many months here. Today was a mad dash to get some paintings sealed before the raindrops.
I also lined up a gig doing an illustration for a local magazine, which I'm pretty excited about. I have to read the article first, but it's about kids and gardens, and I'll be using my kids as models.
They work for cookies.
Ah cheap labor. Gotta love it. 😀
So question for you… Ash and I are starting up an Artist’s Corner over at I Love Rescue Animals (http://www.iloverescueanimals.org) and I was wondering if you’d be interested in being our first artist. We’ll get some interview questions together and do a little showcase of your work. How about it? Shoot me an email or DM and let me know if you’re interested. 🙂
Nikki: I’d be happy to do it. Send the questions when you’re ready!
I enjoyed ready through your work. Lovely paintings.
